CTtransit customers in Manchester can expect upgraded amenities and improved accessibility as construction commences at the Buckland Street and Spencer Street Park and Ride facilities.
The project, led by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), is part of an ongoing statewide effort to enhance the customer experience for commuters and pedestrians while supporting the broader goals of the Greater Hartford Mobility Program.
Scheduled for completion in Fall 2026, CTDOT Project No. 0170-3440 will bring a range of improvements designed to make transit use safer, more accessible and more comfortable for customers.
At the Buckland Street Park and Ride, the project includes the construction of two fully accessible bus boarding platforms, along with new sidewalks connecting the platforms to parking areas, Pleasant Valley Road and Buckland Street.
At the Spencer Street Park and Ride, both on-street bus stops will be reconstructed and upgraded. Sidewalk improvements will create stronger connections between the park and ride, nearby bus stops, and the East Coast Greenway. A new signalized crosswalk at the intersection of Spencer Street and Cemetery Road will also improve pedestrian safety.
Both locations will receive a variety of customer-focused amenities, including:
The upgrades reflect CTDOT's continued investment in creating a more connected transportation network and improving access to public transit throughout the region.
